What this organisation does

Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society is a UK charity established in 1865 that provides care, accommodation and welfare support for retired seafarers and others who need later-life care and housing. The organisation has a long maritime heritage and operates from its Weston Acres estate in Surrey. While originally founded to support retired and infirm seafarers, the charity now also welcomes veterans and members of the local community across some of its services.
The charity provides:
  • Nursing care
  • Dementia care
  • Respite care
  • Sheltered housing for retired seafarers and their partners
