Summary: The Marine Society was the world's first seafarers’ charity. It provides a range of services to seafarers and shore-based maritime professionals to enhance learning and well-being, and to facilitate personal and professional career development. No organisation has more experience of delivering high-quality, flexible learning at sea or of placing the well-being of seafarers first.

Administers J W Slater Fund in conjunction with Nautilus International that offers scholarships for ratings to achieve their first Officer of the Watch certificate. Interest-free loans are also available to UK seafarers for study programmes. Crew Libraries: a crew library service is provided to vessels globally. Libraries are tailored to suit the requirements and tastes of those on board. Information, Advice and Guidance: Marine Society is a Matrix Standard accredited provider of independent advice and guidance to seafarers on any matter of concern.
